Health and safety at Work

In 1974 there were 651 fatal injuries to employees at work. Since the introduction of the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 the figure of fatal injuries at work has reduced to 92 in 2014/15. Although this is a big improvement 1 worker is 1 too many.

Health and Safety Executive statistics

These are a few of the key figures for Great Britain 2014/15

  • 1.2 million working people suffering from a work-related illness
  • 2,538 mesothelioma deaths due to past asbestos exposures (2013)
  • 142 workers killed at work
  • 76,000 other injuries to employees reported under RIDDOR
  • 611,000 injuries occurred at work according to the Labour Force Survey
  • 27.3 million working days lost due to work-related illness and workplace injury
  • £14.3 billion estimated cost of injuries and ill health from current working conditions (2013/14)

These statistics certainly highlight the seriousness of health and saftey at work and when you consider the cost of 27.3 million working days lost due to work related illness and workplace injury its clear to see that any ways to prevent these lost days will have a huge financial positive impact.

By providing staff on site first aid at work training you are giving everyone the same message and giving staff the skills and knowledge to understand workplace risks as well as how to deal with them.

All of our first aid courses provide AED / Defibrillator awareness which is a positve step towards providing a workplace defibrillator.

In house training is a cost effective way to deliver high quality training to a large number of staff.
